Earlier this year, Victoria Community & Youth Centre acquired a plot of land on the allotments located on Lancaster Avenue, Whitefield. Although it was derelict, littered with rubbish and overgrown the volunteers were determined to make a success of the project they started.

Today work started to clear the land ready for the erection of a new shed to store tools. Later on this week and next, the land will be cultivated ready for the planting of preliminary plants such as vegetables and fruit bushes.

Armed with the backing of Six Town Housing and Community Payback, we are excited for what the project holds in store for the residents and wider community.

The entrance of the garden project is being cleared ready for the project to start.
Our first plot needs to be cleared and cultivated before the plants can be planted!

The gallery shows the clearing of the entrance to the allotments and our first plot where we are planning to grow our first harvest on!
